The Parish Lunch has Been taking a bit of a dip in numbers lately, and this seems the moment to promote it and encourage more people to join in and take part.
The monthly lunch started on January 4th, 2015 by Mary Easter. Our dear departed ‘Mac’ (Walter McLachlan) was in charge of the book and between them they arranged with the Alma – just along from church – that the lunch should be held there once a month.
At first it was held on the first Sunday each month, but now the most usual time is on the last Sunday (unless there are any festivals or other extenuating circumstances).
The meal consists of a roast joint (there are normally two or three meats to choose from), a delicious selection of vegetables – always including roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese – and a choice of puddings. The cost is £10 per head and £1 is given back for the church funds. You can buy your own drinks from the bar.
The helpings are more than generous and it is a chance to meet and chat with other members of the congregation. We are now opening it to relatives of the congregation and grandchildren may come along as well.
Do please sign up and try it out – I’m sure you will not be disappointed! If you have signed and paid, we do ask if you don’t cancel your booking at the last moment, unless it is absolutely unavoidable.
Isabel Burrows has kindly agreed to take over being in charge of bookings and Bryan Evans will stand in for her when she is away.
